Ferghettina Franciacorta Milledi
The Producer
Established in 1990 by Roberto Gatti – after buying a tiny winery and three hectares of vines from a family friend – Ferghettina has grown into one of the region’s most prized Franciacorta producers.
In 2005 a new winery was opened overlooking the beautiful Lake Iseo and from here Roberto and his daughter Laura produce 300,000 bottles of wine annually from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. Meticulous attention to detail, skilful blending and long bottle maturation give Ferghettina’s wines great finesse and individuality.
The Vineyard
The Gatti family manage 120 hectares of vineyards in six localities within the DOC. This Milledi is produced solely from Chardonnay. The secondary fermentation for this wine is in bottle and the wine spends 36 months on its lees.
What does it go with:
This will pair a number of grilled fish or poultry dishes – but also try with sushi.
