Situated in the DO of Costers del Segre, 120 km northwest of Barcelona, Castell del Remei has been one of the pioneers of Catalan winemaking for over a century. The estate’s 80 hectares of vineyards combine local varieties, Tempranillo, Garnacha and Macabeo, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The wines reflect this combination of international, bringing together bright modern fruit with the substance and depth of high quality grapes from well tended, mature vineyards. David Seijas – Sommelier at the revered Spanish restaurant El Bulli – said of this wine “Memorise the name, there are not so many or so good at this price!”

An attractive, perfumed nose with cherry, violet, plum, balsamic notes and sweet, seductive, spicy oak characters. Ripe fruit on the palate is balanced with fresh acidity and present yet supple tannins. This is a wine that combines approachable modern fresh, juicy fruit with richness, depth and structure, and just a hint of liquorice.
