Ferghettina Franciacorta Rosé Brut
The Producer
Established in 1990 by Roberto Gatti – after buying a tiny winery and three hectares of vines from a family friend – Ferghettina has grown into one of the region’s most prized Franciacorta producers.
In 2005 a new winery was opened overlooking the beautiful Lake Iseo and from here Roberto and his daughter Laura produce 300,000 bottles of wine annually from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. Meticulous attention to detail, skilful blending and long bottle maturation give Ferghettina’s wines great finesse and individuality.
The Vineyard
The Gatti family manage 120 hectares of vineyards in six localities within the DOC. Sunny rolling hills, at the foot of the Alps, ensure well ripened grapes.
The Winery
The alcoholic fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tank at controlled temperature between 16 and 18 °C with selected yeasts. The wine spends 12-24hrs on the skins to extract the natural pink colour (red wine is not added). Tirage takes place in spring time of the following year. The wine is aged on lees for 36 months.
What does it go with?
Delightful with shellfish, mozarella and vine-ripened tomato salads, a thin crust Italian pizza or even dim sum.
