This case contains:
The Reds
2x Peculiar Mr. Pat Merlot, South Eastern Australia 2018 – Australia
The story of a most particular wombat…Orphaned, beaten up by his wild wombat mates, taken in by Ballarat Wildlife Park, wheelbarrowed around (for weight reasons), adored the world over. A bright, plush, deeply tasty Merlot from Riverland vineyards, this is abundant in freshly picked red fruit with a soft tannic profile and a long, moreish finish.
2x Estampado Red 2018 – Argentina
A smooth red blend with a label inspired by the strong graphic patterns of Argentine gaucho costumes. Don’t you be worried about a blend, this along with its sister white is a proper find. This wine marries the best of Mendoza’s widely planted grapes such as Bonarda, Cabernet and Tempranillo that have long been favored in the Barrancas region as they are well suited to the warm dry climate. Whilst Malbec often steals the limelight in this region lots of the vines have become aged well and produce excellent fruit.
2x Sun & Air Cinsault, Western Cape 2017 – South Africa
This wine sucks sustenance only from the rocks underground. This is a bright and expressive Western Cape Cinsault. A subtle red colour with fresh aromas of red berries, cherries and candyfloss which is really reflected by the cool coastal climate. Smooth and spicy and very easy drinking. A contemporary take on South Africa’s red cultivar.
The Whites
2x Cape Heights Viognier, Western Cape 2019 – South Africa
Luscious unoaked Viognier grown on young vines. A former winner of a Gold medal at the Sommelier Wine Awards this wine has a powerful palate packed with jasmine and white spice, this is a tight, focused and rich Viognier with all the classic varietal flavours you’d expect from this underrated grape.
2x Listening Station Chardonnay 2019 – Australia
Refreshingly unoaked, citrus and white peach flavours combine with a zesty fresh acidity and a clean, bright and linear mineral finish. The judicious addition of Langhorne Creek Chardonnay adds palate, weight and texture. Ultimately, this is a bright expression of a Victorian Chardonnay.
2x El Viejo del Valle Sauvignon Gris 2019 – Chile
‘El Viejo del Valle’ or ‘The Old Man of the Valley’ celebrates the 1950s Chilean street graffiti. This range is an exciting find from the depths of Chile. An aromatic cousin of Sauvignon Blanc – think somewhere between Chile and New Zealand. A fresh aroma of waxy lemons, lime and grapefruit with a hint of frangapani. Fresh and clean on the palate with invigorating acidity.
